Most of us would have heard the saying “The grass is not always greener on the other side”

Could I suggest to you that the grass may actually be greener on the other side, but once we get there it no longer will be, because we always cultivate around us what’s inside us. If the grass around us is dry, hard and dying, the easiest thing to do` is blame everyone else for the state of our grass and covet the luscious fields of our friends and neighbours.

The greenness of our grass has nothing to do with circumstances, wealth or assets, but everything to do with the health of our body, soul and spirit. The greenness of our grass is evidenced by healthy relationships, a renewed mind and a continual presence of joy, peace and love through the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit.

The problem is, when we look at others fields, we only see from the outside and often have no idea of the sacrifice, the obedience, the perseverance or the commitment they have given to cultivating their luscious field of grass.  The reality is we alone are responsible for the state of our grass, we are responsible for how we respond and react to situations, circumstances and people. We are responsible for our obedience to the principles of the Kingdom and the ways of God. We alone are responsible for the amount of time we spend in the quiet place being refreshed, refueled and refilled by the Presence and Spirit of God.

Kris Vallaton – “The truth is, the grass is actually always greener where you water it.”

Instead of coveting the grass on the other side, perhaps we should just ask the gardener how his grass got so green? Maybe we could learn from what they have applied in their lives, maybe we could learn from how they overcame the struggles in their own life, maybe they could pray with us and encourage us in our own gardening. Imagine then being the gardener that is able to help others cultivate and grow their own fields into luscious green grass.

The kingdom within us, will always cultivate the atmosphere around us.

Matthew 6:33- “Seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added.”
